Lhabab Duchen Celebration
November 3, 2023
This event will be offered In-Person and Online via Zoom
Lhabab Duchen
Lhabab Duchen celebrates Guru Shakyamuni Buddha’s return to Earth from the God Realm of the Thirty-Three after teaching Dharma for several months to the gods, including his mother, Mayadevi, who had died a week after Buddha’s birth and been reborn there. As a merit multiplying day, the karmic results of actions done on this day are multiplied 100 million times. This amazing result is taught in the vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic.
To celebrate this auspicious day Thubten Pende will lead us in Lama Chopa Puja and Chanting the Names of Manjushri.
Lama Chopa Puja
Lama Chopa, also called Guru Puja, is a beautiful, profound practice where we make offerings to and request blessings and inspiration from the Three Jewels and the Spiritual Teacher (whether or not the teacher is physically present).
Lama Chopa with Tsog Offering is an excellent practice for accumulating merit and pacifying obstacles on the path to enlightenment.
The Tsog Offering portion of the puja fulfills a commitment* for those Highest Yoga Tantra practitioners practicing Mother Tantra and restores vows and pledges that have degenerated.
*Highest Yoga Tantra Practitioners who would like to participate in offering Tsog at home may set out offerings of fruit, food, and flowers on their home altars and have on hand a small amount of meat and alcohol.
Chanting the Names to Manjushri for the Swift Return of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche
His Holiness the Dalai Lama has offered us all the precious advice to recite Chanting the Names of Noble Manjushri continuously for a few months, for the swift return of Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s reincarnation. This practice is also recommended on merit multiplying days such as Lhabab Duchen.
