Inspired by the 8s: Exploring Ourselves Through Tibetan Buddhism

With Richard Prinz

April 5 - May 3, 2025

In-Person and Online via Zoom

9:00 am – 10:30 am PST

Saturdays: April 5- May 3rd

*No Class on Saturday April 19th*

About the Series: Join us for a transformative four-week series where we will explore key teachings from Tibetan Buddhism through the lens of “8.” Tibetan Buddhism is rich with lists and teachings that help us remember important principles for living a balanced, mindful, and compassionate life. We will focus on four essential “8s”—practical teachings that promote positive states of mind and help release negative patterns. Each of these teachings offers a unique perspective on how to cultivate positive, healthy states of mind while letting go of troublesome thoughts and emotions. Richard will present these teachings in an accessible, beginner-friendly format.

Join us for the whole series or drop in any time.

April 5th: 8 Freedoms – Exploring the 8 freedoms and 10 opportunities that constitute the perfect human rebirth, an ideal situation for spiritual practice.

April 12th: 8 Fold Path – Delving into the Eightfold Path as the final of the Four Noble Truths, a path that leads to the cessation of suffering and the realization of enlightenment.

April 26th: 8 Worldly Concerns – Understanding the Eight Worldly Dharmas, the attachment to worldly concerns that often hinder our spiritual growth.

May 3rd: 8 Verse Mind Training – A reflection on Langri Tangpa’s “8 Verses of Mind Training,” which offers a practical guide to transforming our thoughts and attitudes to develop compassion and wisdom.

Format: Each class will be structured to help you embody the teachings through experiential practices:

  • Meditation
  • Presentation
  • Discussion

Through this series, we will contemplate and meditate on these key concepts, allowing us to foster greater awareness, compassion, and clarity in our everyday lives for the benefit of all beings. This is a wonderful opportunity to discover new ways of looking at ourselves, the world, and our place in it.

Come explore, reflect, and cultivate a deeper understanding of your mind and heart through these powerful teachings. All levels of experience are welcome. No prior experience necessary.
