Rising from a verdant meadow with a Bodhi tree planted to the west, we are going to build a replica of the holy Mahabodhi temple. This place, where the Buddha attained enlightenment, will inspire all who see it to find refuge in the gentle path of peace and compassion. In 2008 Land of Medicine Buddha received its green certification, by operating the center in a sustainable way we affirm our commitment to conserve the precious land for the future. It has been almost 20 years since Land of Medicine Buddha was named, and since that time an immense amount of creativity, effort, devotion and generosity, has gone into creating the wonderland that you see today. The buildings that house our guests and collections of holy objects are in need of care that has been long delayed because of financial constraints. We feel it is time for us to focus on repairing the infrastructure of our center which supports our ability to invite practitioners to retreat and attend teachings in this sacred place. more...
Winding through a California redwood forest, Land of Medicine Buddha's Eight Verses Pilgrimage Trail offers people the opportunity to meditate on thought transformation in a peaceful and picturesque outdoor setting. The main gate is once again open from 7:00am to 5:30pm every day.
The bookstore is open Friday through Monday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm.
Don’t get stuck on the wrong side of the gate. If you are an overnight guest, be sure to keep the gate code with you. If you are a pedestrian, be sure to be off the land before the gate closes automatically at the end of the day.
