Dear Friend,
As we near the end of what’s been another challenging year for so many, including Land of Medicine Buddha, we want to begin by saying thank you to all who stood by us again and again. We simply wouldn’t have been able to do it without you.
While Land of Medicine Buddha is slowly beginning to emerge from the pandemic closures, it has not been an easy time and we want to let you know what we have been working on.
While we work to hire an effective Executive Director, we have done some impactful visioning work to create an exciting Land of Medicine Buddha 2.0! A new Board was formed which helped restructure debt, pay old bills, fix our commercial kitchen, and work on improving our staffing for our soft re-opening in May 2022.
We are now further clarifying staffing roles for a more streamlined flexible system to support the center until there is more funding for additional hiring. We have also embarked on some new efforts to expand our vision of services and financing.
Our comfortable rooms in their unique redwood setting are open for guests for personal retreats and getaways. In addition, we continue to welcome many day visitors who continue to explore our sacred sites, prayer wheels, and trails. We are also hosting several private groups who patiently waited during the pandemic closures. We are excited to implement a more active spiritual program as soon as more program and tech support is in place. In addition, we are aware of the limitations of our current website and are researching the best way to create a new one as soon as possible.
Of course, we continue infrastructure maintenance and improvements as much as we are able yet continue our struggle to find staffing to best support you when you visit. There are a multitude of tasks to manage to support these precious 108 forested acres along with 13 buildings and sacred sites; we have wonderful plans for moving forward in a more robust way and truly need your support at this time.
We are writing to you now to ask you to stand with us once again before the end of the year by donating to support Land of Medicine Buddha’s future.

Please consider a donation on November 15, the upcoming Festival Day of Lha Bab Duchen (Buddha’s Descent from Heaven). It is a wonderful time to make offerings as merit is multiplied significantly and we are taught that generosity is the cause of prosperity. So it’s good for you too!
Your generous support is critical so Land of Medicine Buddha can continue to be a beacon of compassion and wisdom as we share the inspired teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, our Spiritual Director Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche and so many other kind, compassionate and wise teachers. The center welcomes all of you to come and celebrate 2023 with us and bring your light and blessings to a place of peace and beauty.
Thank you for your tremendous support so together we can sow the seeds of peace, harmony, compassion and wisdom to benefit beings without limit.
With love and prayers,
The Land of Medicine Buddha Board of Directors: Ven. Steve Carlier, Ven. Amy Miller, Pam Cayton, Rama Khalsa, Christine Schneider, Breige Walbridge and Angela Wang.
