We will be doing the self-initiation (dag-juk; i.e., self-entry) of Yamantaka (Solitary Hero), along with Tsog offering. This event falls during the 15 Days of Miracles on the Tibetan Calendar: a particularly auspicious time to be engaging in Dharma Practice.
Prerequisites: This event is restricted to those who have received the Yamantaka Initiation and completed the Yamantaka retreat with fire puja. (Practitioners with the initiation who have not yet completed the Yamantaka retreat with fire puja are welcome to join us for the first and third parts of the afternoon’s proceedings: namely the self generation part of the practice and the Tsog offering section.)
Texts: We will be using the Self Initiation text based on the Yamantaka Initiation text composed by Gyalwa Kalsang Gyatso, the 7th Dalai Lama, that was adapted for Self Initiation. The revised text was compiled at Mahamudra Center NZ in June 1992 etc on the occasion of a one month teaching on the Self Initiation practice by Geshe Ngawang Dhargey.
The Tsog text is “A Festive Smile: A Tsog Offering to Shri Vajrabhairava by the 7th Dalai Lama”. Translated by G H Mullin and SJ Tulku.
Additionally, we will be reciting Lama TsongKhapa Guru Yoga.
Information and instructions on what to do if you need support in obtaining these texts is included in the email you will receive after registering.
Preparations: Your Vajra and Bell and inner offering are required. Damaru is optional. If you know the altar set up this is good. Otherwise, an image of Yamantaka Solitary Hero and an image of the Mandala will suffice.
Registration: Required. Please register your participation on this page.
May all be auspicious!
