A very exciting project is taking shape right now: we are building a Mahabodhi Stupa at Land of Medicine Buddha. We recently received the building permit from Santa Cruz county in January and will hold the ground breaking ceremony on April 25. Construction begins on April 28.
We invite you to take part in the launch of our first official fundraising event by sponsoring the Stupa Wheelathon: turning the Great Prayer Wheel to make the Stupa rise up.
An estimated US$100,000 is needed to build the basic structure of the Mahabodhi Stupa. We are aiming to raise $24,000 as an auspicious start before the Bhumi Puja with our Stupa Wheelathon.
Our wheel-turning practice will begin on 5:30pm, April 6th and continue until 5:30pm, April 7th.
We will start with a group motivation and compassion practice including the Om Mani Padme Hung mantra, by the prayer wheel, as the wheel turning begins. You are invited to join us at that time.
We will end with a dedication at 5:30pm on April 7th. You are also welcome to join us then.
Turning the wheel will be Land of Medicine Buddha sangha members, sangha members from Santa Cruz, board members and staff, and some of our friends from nearby. In this way, as a community, we will be able to create the karmic causes for the success of the Stupa project.
