Making the Mind Spacious

May 11

by Don Handrick

We are pleased to welcome Don Handrick to Land of Medicine Buddha for the first time.

A FPMT Masters Program of Buddhist Studies graduate, Don Handrick is the resident teacher at our sister center, Thubten Norbu Ling in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Besides teaching at other FPMT centers in the US, Don had also taught at the month-long Kopan November course, attended by over 200 students from all over the world. Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche praised Don on several occasions for his humility and kindness.

Don has received teachings from many esteemed and precious lamas in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition including His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Lama Zopa Rinpoche, Ribur Rinpoche, Choden Rinpoche, and Khensur Jampa Tegchog. He is well-known for his humility, kindness and clarity of instruction.

Don will give two public talks on the May 11 and May 18 and lead two weekend courses on Transform your mind; Transform the world.

Making the Mind Spacious

Lama Yeshe would frequently talk about the limitations of the “narrow mind” and how it creates so many of our problems. In this talk, we will explore the habitual ways that we create our own difficulties through maintaining a constricted and limited focus in our lives.  We will also discuss how to cultivate a more vast and spacious view to enable us to open our minds and hearts to the opportunity for awakening in every moment.
