PARTING FROM THE FOUR ATTACHMENTS
The teaching on the Four Attachments is universally regarded as one of the jewels of Tibetan Buddhism. The great and holy Lama Sakyapa said that anyone longing to seek the supreme great bliss of nirvana must part from the four attachments.
If you cling to this life, you are not a practitioner;
If you cling to the three realms, that is not renunciation;
If you cling to self·interest, you are not a bodhisattva;
If grasping arises, it is not the view.
LMB is blessed to receive teachings from Gyümé Khensur Rinpoche once again! This is a precious opportunity to hear the instructions on parting from, or freeing oneself from, the four attachments. These teachings support the sincere practitioner to proceed along the path. Remaining true to the spirit of the Dharma means to be neither tarnished nor corrupted by any of the four traps, or four kinds of attachment. Applying these precious teachings to ones life allows the student to recognize the entanglements of these attachments, and thus avoid them.
ABOUT THE TEACHER
You may recognize him as Geshe Wangdu, but his full recognized name is Gyüme Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Wangdu.
Gyümé Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Wangdu has recently finished a three year term as Abbot of Gyümé Tantric College in South India. Awarded the degree of Lharampa Geshe in 1995, he is also the teacher of our Senior Monk, Venerable Steve, and our resident monastic, Venerable Samten, from Sera Je Monastery, in India. Khensur Rinpoche is known for his warm heart, great wisdom and erudition, and strong guru devotion.
