We are at about this point in Gyaltsab Je’s commentary:
As explained above, to accept future buddhahood but not to accept the certainty of that buddhahood is illogical. Moreover, to say that it is not established that all sentient beings are future buddhas does not withstand analysis. If the minds of sentient beings were not naturally pure, we would have to admit the possibility of truly existent phenomena in the realm of existence. Therefore, as all existence would not be proven by valid perception to be empty of true existence, ultimate truth could not established. On the other hand, if mind is established by valid perception as being naturally pure, the defilement of holding to true existence and its instincts can be established by that valid reasoning to be adventitious and separable from the mind.
This is a weekly class, on Tuesday nights, 7pm.
The Instructor
Venerable Steve Carlier is the resident monk at Land of Medicine Buddha who teaches the In-Depth programs. He is fluent in Tibetan and often serves as an oral interpreter for visiting Tibetan masters. Venerable Steve was ordained as a Buddhism monk in 1979 and trained in the traditional Tibetan monastic system for over 20 years.
