Refuge with Ven. Steve Carlier via Zoom

Thursdays starting May 11 8:00am - 9:30am PT

LAMA ZOPA RINPOCHE’S ADVICE FOR LAM-RIM MEDITATIONS:

“The most important and best way to benefit others is to develop your heart and mind on the path to enlightenment. When you complete the path to enlightenment you will be fully qualified to liberate numberless sentient beings from oceans of samsaric suffering and bring them to full enlightenment. This is what sentient beings need and this is what is most beneficial for them. There is no greater success than this. This depends upon your actualizing the path to enlightenment by meditating on the lam-rim.”

LamaTsonghkhapaThe celebrated system of teachings known as the Stages of the Path (lamrim), written by the great medieval Tibetan Buddhist Saint, Lama Tsongkhapa, represents a synthesis of the entire path to enlightenment. Presented in a clear and concise form, these teachings are easy to understand and apply in meditation. Instruction begins with the preliminary practices, and then progresses through the essential practices of the ‘beings of the three scopes’, including correct guru devotion, renunciation, the altruistic wish for enlightenment and the view of the middle way.

About the Course:

Join us for the next six-week series on refuge, based on Lama Tsongkhapa’s Middle-Length Lamrim. This course will provide an excellent opportunity to deepen your understanding of one of the foundational practices of Buddhism. Through reading and discussing key sections of the text, you will gain insight into the importance of taking refuge, develop confidence in the Three Jewels, and learn the formal process of taking refuge. Additionally, you will explore the significance of maintaining refuge and the role it plays in our spiritual development. Overall, this series will provide a solid foundation for those who are interested in deepening their practice and understanding of Buddhism, as well as those who are seeking guidance on how to integrate the practice of taking refuge into their daily lives.

This is a great opportunity to study the Middle-Length Lam-Rim online via Zoom with Land of Medicine Buddha’s senior monk, Venerable Steve Carlier.  This is the next installment of several  Zoom series with Ven. Steve, devoted to a gradual study of the Middle-Length Lam-Rim.

*Please note, due to the open ended and flexible nature of this class, attendance of these sessions does not count towards a completion card for the FPMT Basic Program.

*** PLEASE NOTE START DATE HAS BEEN DELAYED 1 WEEK****
