Mahamudra: How to Discover our True Nature with Venerable Robina Courtin

May 13 & 14

PLEASE NOTE THE DATE FOR THIS COURSE HAS BEEN CHANGED!

NEW DATES: May 13 & 14

Join us for a weekend course on Lama Yeshe’s Mahamudra led by Venerable Robina Courtin. With her signature wit and humor, Venerable Robina will guide us through the intricate and subtle teachings of Mahamudra, helping us to glimpse the ultimate nature of our minds. Through her skillful explanations and guided meditations, we will try to recognize the empty and luminous nature of our own awareness, and to abide in that recognition without grasping or clinging. These teachings will be both challenging and inspiring, pushing us to question our assumptions and delve deeper into the nature of reality.

About Mahamudra:

According to Buddha’s amazing view about the human mind, it is fundamentally pure — meaning that all delusions can be eradicated and all virtues perfected — and bliss is its natural state.

In Lama Yeshe’s marvelous book, Mahamudra: How to Develop Our True Nature, Lama says, “In mahamudra meditation there is no doctrine, no theology, no philosophy, no God, no Buddha. We go beyond name, beyond shape and color, beyond the relative, beyond self-image, beyond compassion.”

Lama explains so clearly, so simply, how to get in touch with this natural potential by meditating on the mind itself, the unique characteristic of mahamudra meditation, and finally by realizing its emptiness: our buddha nature.

About the teacher:

Ordained since the late 1970s, Ven. Robina has worked full time since then for Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s FPMT. Over the years she has served as editorial director of

Wisdom Publications, editor of Mandala Magazine, executive director of Liberation Prison Project, and as a touring teacher of Buddhism. Her life and work with prisoners have been featured in the documentary films Chasing Buddha and Key to Freedom.

Gift of Dharma

Dharma Teachings and Retreats at LMB are all freely offered, however, suggested donations are requested to cover the center costs of hosting these worthwhile programs. Whether the program is held entirely online or in-person involves a great many expenses. The cost of running a residential center in California is extremely high compared to other parts of the country and world. Some of these costs include staff salaries and taxes, building and ground maintenance for a 108-acre property, fire and other insurance, utilities (which includes extensive water treatment and testing), accounting services, food for residents, to name a few.

We greatly appreciate your kind support and generosity so we can provide a robust spiritual program for you.

Gift of Dharma – Benefactor

Help sponsor this event. This is an excellent way to generate a lot of merit if you are unable to attend the retreat in person or via zoom. Benefactors will receive special prayers and dedications during the retreat–for your long life, purification, and removal of hindrances.
