Celebrating the Anniversary of Lord Shakyamuni Buddha’s fifteen days of the display of miracles.
From the first day of the Tibetan first month until the fifteenth is the great special time of Buddha showing miraculous powers in order to subdue the Six Founders and to inspire faith in his followers.
Losar (Tib 1) is the most important yearly celebration in Tibetan Buddhism and the next 14 days that follow are special times for practice, culminating on Tib 15, Chotrul Duchen (the Day of Miracles). Any actions done during that period of time are multiplied in their power. Karmic results are multiplied by one hundred million, as cited by Lama Zopa Rinpoche in the Vinaya text, Treasure of Quotations and Logic. It is a very powerful time to practice and increase one’s commitment to both practice and study.”
Recitations this morning will include:
- Lama Chöpa
- Palden Lhamo
- and maybe some other prayers in Tibetan
Jhado Rinpoche and many local-area Tibetans will join us.
A Losar Lunch, at about 12:30pm, will be offered after the puja. Please register if you want to be counted in for that.
