Losar, Feb 21, is the Tibetan New Year. It is also the anniversary of Lama Yeshe’s passing. We will be doing Lama Chopa, tsog offering and community lunch to commemorate this special day, and also special prayers and request to Palden Lhamo. We are also very pleased to be able to have Geshe Tenzin Zopa leading these practices.
Palden Lhamo is also the special protector for the Tibetan people. It is traditional for all the monasteries in India and Tibet to perform this puja at the break of dawn at Losar. For the FPMT and Land of Medicine Buddha, this is particularly to clear obstacles for projects and the flourishing of the Dharma activities.
This is a very special day in the Tibetan calendar to be able to make extensive offerings to the Buddhas. Please let us know what you would like to bring. Examples of offerings for this event are flowers, large Guru Cake, fruits, nuts (everything and anything you love to eat on special occasions).
After the puja we will be having a community pot luck lunch.
Please bring a dish to share.
All are welcome to join, this event will be in-person only. We will have copies of the text in Tibetan script as well as English for everyone to follow along.
