Lojong: Mahayana Mind Training

Sundays, once a month

Land of Medicine Buddha is delighted to announce that Gyume Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa will begin teaching Kadampa Geshe Chekawa’s classic text The Seven Point Mind Training, beginning on December 18, 2016. Khensur Rinpoche will guide us through the text on Sunday afternoons, once a month, from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.  There will no class on Jan 1st; the next class will resume on Jan 8.

This is an amazing opportunity to receive teachings on these practical steps, including the very useful slogans of mind training, from such an accomplished and venerated teacher such as Khensur Rinpoche!

Note: There is the possibility of a children’s group forming to run concurrently. To gauge interest in this, please RSVP to by Dec 14.

Seven Point Mind Training

One of the most important and influential works of mind training composed in Tibet, this series of slogans was first composed by Chekawa Yeshe Dorje (1101–1175) according to the tradition of Atiśa Dīpaṃkara (982–1054). The seven points are:

1) Teaching the preliminaries on which this Dharma depends
2) Training the mind in bodhicitta, the foundation
3) Converting unfortunate circumstances into a path enlightenment
4) Teaching a practice to be applied your whole life
5) The criteria of having trained the mind
6) The commitments of the mind-training practice
7) Pieces of advice for the mind-training practice
