Who was Lama Tsongkhapa?

Losang Drakpa, Je Tsongkhapa (1357-1419) was the founder of the Gelug lineage, or Ganden tradition, the tradition that our center is part of. He authored many books, including the famous Lam-rim Chen-mo, Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path. Read his biography at Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive. His holy day is celebrated on the 25th day of the 10th lunar month, which often falls around Christmas. The Tibetan commonly celebrate Lama Tsongkhapa day by putting out many light offerings – butter lamps in the old days, and nowadays “Christmas” lights.
