Sunday May 10, 2020 to Friday May 15, 2020

Venerable Robina returns to Land of Medicine Buddha for a special five day retreat with residential (yurts and rooms available) and commuter options.

What are referred to in Mahayana Buddhism as the “eight worldly concerns” or the “eight mundane dharmas” are, in fact, simply primordial levels of attachment that exist as virtual assumptions in our minds. The assumptions are that “I must get what I want every second,” causing us to constantly crave happy feelings, nice things, pleasant sounds, and the approval and adulation of others. Attachment can’t stand when we experience the opposite!
In fact, the more we look into our minds – or “be our own therapists,” as Lama Yeshe wisely puts it – the more we see that these attitudes inform most of our decisions in daily life, causing us anger, anxiety, depression and so much confusion and pain. Reversing these attitudes, an act so radical and antithetical to our everyday pleasure-seeking, is the very essence of spiritual practice.

Retreat begins with check-in/registration from 3 – 6 pm on Sunday, May 10 (dinner is at 6 pm) and ends after lunch on Friday, May 15.
