A Special Week-long Program
This retreat will be Medicine Buddha Practice combined with teachings from Venerable Robina on how to help your loved ones enjoy death and go happily to their next rebirth.
According to Buddhism, this life we have now is just one of countless lives we have lived in a continuum going off immeasurably into the past and indefinitely into the future. What kind of life we get and what happens to us throughout our life is coming from our karma, which is coming from our mind – our thoughts and attitudes.
Learning how to develop positive and realistic attitudes helps us have more happiness right now. It also helps us go through the dying process in the most skillful way, bringing our good karma to the front of the queue so that we can have the most favorable rebirth – a fortunate human rebirth in which we will be able to continue our spiritual evolution.
Session times with Ven Robina
Venerable Robina Courtin is scheduled to teach the following times each day.
- 9:30am – 12:30pm (with a short break)
- 3:30pm – 6pm
- 7:30pm – 8:30/0pm
We welcome part-time retreators and drop-ins. Please observe the following points of etiquette.
Medicine Buddha, (Tib. Menla, Skt. Bhaishajya Guru) is just one of numerous manifestations of enlightened mind (dharmakaya), showing up in a divine form to benefit sentient beings. Medicine Buddha made special pledges to help sentient beings in certain ways, including helping them at the time of death, leading them to his pure land. For that reason, Medicine Buddha is a preferred practice to do for people who are dying and while they are in the bardo (intermediate state between this life and the next). Our sadhana practice of Medicine Buddha is a way for us to finally develop the same qualities, to attain the state of Medicine Buddha, a completely purified being with all realizations.
