“If … you can begin to recognize the reality of your own nature, this meditation course will have been worthwhile. Therefore, dedicate your actions during this time to discovering inner freedom through recognizing the negative characteristics of your own uncontrolled mind.” LAMA THUBTEN YESHE

Thursdays, 12:00pm-1:00pm PDT
September 23rd, & 30th
October 7th, 14th, 21st, & 28th, 2021
The course will draw on deeply practical wisdom that Lama Thubten Yeshe originally conveyed to students at a five-day meditation retreat he led back in 1975, near Melbourne, Australia, with the main focus on awakening inner freedom within the mind. (Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, cofounded the Land of Medicine Buddha’s parent organization, the FPMT). The teachings and meditations Lama Yeshe shared at this meditation retreat have also been preserved for future generations in the highly popular Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive book, Ego, Attachment, and Liberation.
This special six-week online course will be taught by one of Lama’s long-term students, Karuna Cayton. Karuna will lead students in an exploration of Lama’s instructions for working skillfully to subdue uncontrolled states of mind, such as attachment, anger and low self-esteem. Participants will gain insight into how these mind states cause us to suffer and propel us into harmful behaviors, and we will come to see how a constricted sense of ego-identity is at the root of our problems. As we move towards greater happiness, we will learn how to give our ego the “wisdom-eye” and connect with our innate potential for joy and wellbeing.
