Calm Abiding is a traditional Buddhist meditation practice that involves training the mind to develop calmness, clarity, and concentration. It is often referred to as “mindfulness meditation” or “Shamatha” meditation.
This 6-week meditation series is a program designed to teach participants the practice of Calm Abiding meditation. During the course of the series, participants will learn the basics of Calm Abiding meditation, including how to sit properly, how to focus their attention, and how to maintain a calm and relaxed state of mind. They will also learn how to work with distractions and how to develop greater awareness of their thoughts and emotions.
The series is typically structured in a way that allows participants to build on their practice each week, with each session building on the previous one. By the end of the series, participants should have a good understanding of the basics of Shamatha meditation and should be able to continue their practice on their own.
The Calm-Abiding 6-week meditation series can be a great way to introduce yourself to the practice of meditation or to deepen your existing practice. It is a simple but powerful tool for cultivating mindfulness, reducing stress, and promoting overall well-being.
You are welcome to just come to one or all of the classes.
About the teacher:
Massimo Corona has devotedly served in FPMT since 1971 in various capacities, including as an early founder and director of the successful Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa in Italy, as director of FPMT International Office from 2000-2006, and as director of FPMT Mongolia.
He usually lives and works at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa as a consultant for different projects. He is currently serving as interim Director for Land of Medicine Buddha. Massimo has received many teachings and initiations from many high lama’s over the 50-plus years he has been involved in the Dharma.
