Transform Your Problems into the Path to Enlightenment

As the holiday season approaches many of us anticipate an increase in problems, such as family disagreements, financial strain, time pressures, etc. What a good time for a course on transforming problems!

In this module of Discovering BUDDHISM, we will be learning about “Lo-Jong” – Thought Transformation – focusing on the Eight Verses of Thought Transformation (Tib. lo-jong-tsig-gyä-ma) by the 11th Century Tibetan lama Langri Tangpa, as featured on the Eight Verses Pilgrimage Trail at Land of Medicine Buddha.

In addition to learning the meaning of the Eight Verses, we will cover related topics including:

  • bringing the bodhisattva attitude into daily life
  • protecting one’s mind from destructive emotions
  • identifying and avoiding the trap of worldly concerns
  • ways to solve problems using Dharma techniques
  • tong-len: meditation on love and compassion
  • how to see the illusion-like quality of life’s problems

Practice Day for this module will be on Saturday, December 16.
