JOIN US IN CELEBRATION OF DAY OF MIRACLES ~ CHÖTRUL DÜCHEN
Shakyamuni Buddha Puja
Sutra for Remembering the Three Jewels
Sutra of Golden Light Recitation
Dedication and King of Prayers
Celebrate Chötrul Düchen, also known as the Day of Miracles. This day marks the end of the 15 day festival, which celebrates the 15 days that the Buddha performed a series of miracles. Ven. Amy Miller will lead us in prayers recommended by Lama Zopa Rinpoche for the benefit of all beings with special dedication to our sisters and brothers in Ukraine. These practices will be held online via Zoom.
We will be dedicating these practices to the long lives of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and to Kyabje Zopa Rinpoche. Shakyamuni Buddha Puja is a source of good collections: a rite of homage, worship (making offerings) and prayers to the teacher, the King of Sages, remembering his previous lives and biography.
The main point of this puja is to develop one’s faith in the Buddha and collect vast merits by thinking about the wonderful things he has done – both in his countless previous lives as a bodhisattva and in his life as Shakyamuni, feeling joyful about them and making offerings, both real and visualized.
About Venerable Amy Miller
Amy J. Miller (Ven. Lobsang Chodren) first encountered Buddhism in 1987 at Kopan Monastery in Nepal and has been ordained since 2000. She has spent a great deal of time engaged in meditation retreats, study, teaching, and Buddhist center management. Prior to studying Buddhism, Amy was a political fundraiser in Washington, DC and also worked for Mother Jones Magazine in San Francisco, California. She has trained as a hospice counselor during the peak of the AIDS epidemic and offers popular courses and retreats on death and dying, as well as end-of-life care.
V. Amy has lead many pilgrimages to Buddhist sites such as Lawudo Retreat Center in the Mount Everest region of Nepal, and continues to do so (see her website below for more information on joining her on the next trip). Students have shared that her teaching style helps one connect with meditation and mindfulness in an effort to gain a refreshing perspective on normally stressful living. As the co-author of FPMT’s Buddhism in a Nutshell, V. Amy is a vetted resource to begin to understand these profound teachings. For more information on V. Amy’s schedule and future courses she will be leading, see www.AmyMiller.com.
