Join us on Tuesday evening for this surprise visit by Ösel Hita, the recognized reincarnation of our organization’s founder, Lama Yeshe.
The 33-year-old Ösel was born in Spain to the people who built Ösel Ling retreat center, thus the name he was given, which means Clear Light. You can read more about his early life in the book Reincarnation: The Boy Lama. He spent his childhood as a monk, at Kopan and Sera monasteries, and then left the monastic life as a teenager, going through high school and then film school in Europe. Ösel continues to receive formal Buddhist teachings at Sera Monastery during parts of the year, but is now married with a small child.
This talk on Tuesday night, on Buddhist Action, was arranged very last-minute, our director inviting him on Saturday, when Ösel showed up for Ling Rinpoche’s event in Campbell. The choice of topic follows up on what Ling Rinpoche was saying recently regarding dealing with problems, to paraphrase: “You can pray, but it’s better to take action with loving-kindness and compassion. Just meditating is not enough. It’s time to take action.”
Come on over to share in the conversation.
