Mondays: Oct 28 to Dec 16 (no class on Nov 25)

The sage taught this entire system for the sake of wisdom.
Therefore, with the desire to ward off suffering, one should develop wisdom.

Shantideva opens this 9th chapter saying the previous chapters of his text are presented for the sake of generating the wisdom that pacifies all suffering. Presented as a dialogue and debate between the different philosophical schools, this chapter is considered one of the important texts presenting the Middle Way view of Buddhism.

Tubten Pende will comment on the 9th Chapter – Perfection of Wisdom – of the famous work by Shantideva, Bodhicarya-avatara, published in English as The Way of the Bodhisattva and as A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life.
