an on-going group that meets once a month
facilitated by special guest:
Venerable Drolma
from Vajrapani Institute
on October 30
This Autumn – Sep-Dec 2013 – we will be investigating the classical text called The Wheel of Sharp Weapons. This text is contained within the collection Essential Mind Training, a book which would be useful for you to have to follow along with these sessions. We have some copies in the Book Store at LMB. The Wheel of Sharp Weapons particularly focuses on the role of karma in shaping our experiences and on how an awareness of karma informs how we decide to deal with problems.
Mind Training is a translation of the Tibetan term Lo-jong (also call Thought Transformation) – a genre of Buddhist practice that aims to use problems as one’s path to enlightenment.
In these once-a-month meetings, we will be drawing from the abundant supply of Lo-jong literature to pull out techniques that will work for us in dealing with life’s problems. At first, you might be most interested in getting rid of your problems, but as your Mind Training skills improve, you will eventually look forward to problems as a chance to practice.
Come meet together with other brave people to discuss how to practice Mind Training and to report back from your real-life experience.
