Zong Rinpoche was born in Northern India, in Kullu Valley, in 1985. Rinpoche is the reincarnation of the 3rd Zong Rinpoche Jetsun Losang Tsondru Thubten Gyaltsen (1905-1984), who had contributed greatly to the spread of Buddhism in the West, and is also one of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s gurus. Zong Rinpoche was recognized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and enthroned at Gaden Shartse monastery in South India. Rinpoche is currently fully engaged in the study of Sutra and Tantra at Gaden Shartse Monastic University, and was under the care of H.E. Khensur Lati Rinpoche all these years until 2010 when Lati Rinpoche passed away. Zong Rinpoche has consistently topped his exams, and is also the teacher of many young Tulkus in the monastery. H.H. the Dalai Lama is very pleased with Rinpoche’s academic achievements, and hopes that Zong Rinpoche will be one of the Tulkus who will preserve and spread the Buddhadharma in the future.
