|Hello, dear LMB community,|
… and another new development! Yesterday Santa Cruz County issued a Shelter in Place order through April 7th, 2020. As we are not an “essential business”, all LMB public indoor spaces are closed including the Main Gompa, restrooms, the bookstore, and our dining room. You are most welcome to enjoy our outdoor spaces while following social distancing guidelines of keeping 6 feet between you and other visitors. The Shelter in Place order allows for driving to engage in outdoor activities such as hiking, so do try to get out whether it is here for a hike or another outdoor venue.
Even so, if you are feeling unwell, please stay home.
We will be offering as many events as possible virtually through Facebook Live -or- Zoom depending on the program. Please see the online calendar for more details around where to access the particular class that you are interested in.
***You must be registered for classes that will utilize Zoom, you will then receive an email with the Zoom link to join the class***
We will continue to do our part here at LMB by dedicating for all sentient beings to have perfect health now and in the future during our daily Medicine Buddha Puja, please consider sponsoring general prayers HERE, you can also join the Medicine Buddha Puja on Sunday via FaceBook Live.
His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama recommends reciting Tara mantras. Additionally, click HERE for advice from our precious teacher, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche.
We continue to think of all of you around town, in the state, and around the globe, managing the stress and anxiety of this time. We are working on more ways to connect virtually, please drop me a line if there is something that we could offer that would be helpful for you and your families.
We send lots of love and prayers for healthy bodies and healthy minds!
Big love to each and every one of you,

Hello, dear LMB community,
We have made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person classes and dharma programs through March 31st. We will be offering some events virtually through FB Live -or- Zoom depending on the program: Guided meditations on Sunday morning and Monday evening, Ven Tenzin’s Unlocking True Happiness class, and Jon Landaw’s Training Our Mind class will be streamed from the Main Gompa. Links to join classes will follow.
Additionally, Land of Medicine Buddha is canceling all Facility Rental groups, Road Scholar programs, and Private bookings through March 31st.
The Land will remain open to the public, as well as the Main Gompa. Though if you are having any symptoms, please stay home! The Bookstore will be open with reduced hours from Wednesday through Sunday, 12pm to 5pm.
Lots of good advice has come out from many reputable sources to help you stay healthy including the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization. We will do our part here at LMB by dedicating for all sentient beings to have perfect health now and in the future during our daily Medicine Buddha Puja. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama recommends reciting Tara mantras. Additionally, click HERE for advice from our precious teacher, Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche on Handling Illness from our friends over at the Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive.
Please take this opportunity to get out in nature or do whatever makes you feel strong and healthy, call or text a friend, meditate, cherish others AND let someone in your circle know if you are having any symptoms of anxiety or depression. Big love to each and every one of you!
Wishing you good health,

At this time, Land of Medicine Buddha is not cancelling events.
We are following Santa Cruz County schools to keep tabs on local infection clusters. We will make a determination to close or cancel events based on information as it becomes available and we will relay this information to you as quickly as possible.
These are the precautions that we are currently taking to help minimize the spread of cold/flu/coronavirus at LMB:
- We are wiping down public surfaces 3X per day with bleach and/or alcohol wipes including door handles, light switches, public bathroom surfaces.
- We use hot water to launder any reusable fabric items ie. towels, duvets, rags, etc.
- Our linen service fully sanitizes all towels/bathmats/sheets.
- We are placing sanitizer at the beginning of the buffet line and at the end. Please note: washing with soap and water is the preferred method for handwashing, if there is time, please use the sink in the dining room or adjacent bathrooms to wash for 20 seconds with warm water & soap.
- Our dishwashing machines sanitize all of our dishes.
- Staff will use disposable gloves to handle both clean and dirty dishes.
- We are obtaining medicines and emergency supplies to support the Center in the case of an outbreak or closure.
We are asking all staff and guests to please follow this protocol:
- If you are sick, please stay home!
- Sneeze into disposable tissues and dispose of it immediately, or use the crook of your arm if a tissue is not handy.
- Wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap.
- Refrain from shaking hands – curtsy, bow, wave, namaste – instead!
- Take care of yourself by continuing to do whatever makes you feel strong and healthy – supplements, exercise, meditation….
Stay calm and mindful of your own level of anxiety and let someone know if you need support. Most of us have never gone through a pandemic before, this is new territory, and lots of things might come up. Please be patient with yourself and each other.
We must remember that Land of Medicine Buddha was established as a center for healing and developing a good heart, we have been given a powerful opportunity to practice this.
Wishing you all good health!
