Jhado Rinpoche will confer the jenangs (permissions) of 1000-arm Chenrezig and of White Tara.

The Chenrezig jenang prepares you to participate in the Nyung-nay retreat in February and in the Mani retreat in May.

The White Tara jenang is for long life.

Dietary Restriction: On the day of the jenangs, please keep a precept diet. This means, don’t eat:

  • meat (including fish)
  • eggs
  • onions
  • garlic

Jenang, pronounced something like jay-nahng, is a Tibetan word meaning “subsequent permission” and is a sort of initiation, enabling you to do the practice. Later retreats and commentaries often require that you have received the jenang first.

In order to received a jenang, should have had a previous empowerment(wang), of the appropriate class, for the jenang to enable you to generate yourself as the deity. Nevertheless, you are allowed to sit in and receive the blessing (soak up the vibe), this time, even if you don’t have the prerequisites.

Commitments:  The bodhisattva vow will be given. Wishing vow can be taken if one is not ready to take on the bodhisattva vow. The Bodhisattva Vow booklet is available in booklet form or pdf format.

Prerequisites:  One is a Buddhist, ie has taken refuge in the Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, and has a good foundation in the  lam rim and the sutra path (at least having some experienceof renunciation, bodhicitta, and wisdom understanding emptiness).

There will be an opportunity to take Refuge at the beginning of this Saturday’s ceremony. Please allow extra time to make sure you’re in your seat by 5:15pm especially if you are taking Refuge for the first time. Jhado Rinpoche tends to be EARLY!

Saturday night is likely to be crowded. Best to pre-register.

These two jenangs can be take as a blessing.
